Lucia Poma, BS

Lucia is a visiting student from Italy. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Engineering for Health Systems at the University of Bergamo, Italy, and now pursuing a Master's degree in Bionics Engineering, with a curriculum in Neural Engineering, at the University of Pisa and School of Advanced Studies Sant'Anna. Lucia is here to work on her thesis project on beta burst dynamics in DBS patients performing speech production tasks. Before, she had already worked on analysing STN beta profiles in Parkinson's subjects at the Computational Neuroengineering lab, Institute of Biorobotics of SSSA. Among other projects, she was involved in the European project “Experience”, studying heart-brain interaction in a time perception task in case of depression at Neuro-Cardiovascular Intelligence Lab, Research Center E. Piaggio, University of Pisa, and participated in the summer school about "Consciousness and cognition" at Lama Tzong Khapa Institute. Her main research interests are basal ganglia's functions, the clinical impact of DBS therapies, and applied statistics and signal processing. Out of the lab, she enjoys hiking, outdoor sports, and discovering new cultures.
